2.1.1Queues
There are four important queues in NET SatisFAXtion. Any fax that is processed by the server is
stored in one or more queues. The fax server’s queues should stay relatively empty. If the queues

Scheduled Queue: This queue stores outbound faxes waiting to be sent. Faxes that are converting,
faxes that failed and are waiting to retry, and faxes that are scheduled to send in the future will

Outbox (Sent Queue): Delivery notifications are stored here before they are delivered to the
sender. Some clients (notably FAXability) will only collect notifications when the user specifically
checks. All other clients will retrieve notifications in real time and nothing should be left here

Inbox (Received Queue): Received faxes are stored here before they are delivered to the
receiver. Unrouted faxes (delivered to Postmaster) will remain here until manually routed. Some
clients (notably FAXability) will not retrieve faxes in real time since the client application is not
runningallthetime.
2.1.2OutboundFaxes
A fax is sent to the fax server from a client. NET SatisFAXtion validates the phone number. The
fax server places the call using a configured fax device. When the fax completes, a status

2.1.3InboundFaxes
A call comes in from a configured fax device. NET SatisFAXtion answers the call and begins
receiving the fax. Once the fax is completely received, the fax server makes a decision where to
send it based on fax server configuration. If the fax server is set to auto routing, the fax is
